As a part of Index's "Our countryside" project, we visited the alpaca farm in Őrség. Kata Könye's family kept kettle for generations in the alpine climate of Őrség, the area near Hungary's western border, but a couple of years ago Kata introduced alpacas to the area. The animals originally from the Andes like the meadows of the Vas county countryside quite a lot. Despite the high value of alpaca wool, Kata's alpacas earn their keep by attracting tourists to her guesthouse, because if there is one thing everyone knows about alpacas, it is that they are insanely cute.
